My Backstory

Growing up, my calling was unmistakably in healthcare. I dedicated my weekends to volunteering in hospitals, and even as a child, I relished playing doctor and assisting those in need. As I got older, I worked in medical research, clinical studies, and data solutions. These experiences instilled in me an early appreciation for the importance of healthcare accessibility and the value of engaged care. While some aspects of medicine aligned with my innate curiosity, others did not, as I thrived on challenging conventions and venturing beyond my comfort zone – qualities not necessarily suited to traditional medical roles. I am an extrovert, eager to connect with people. Embracing discomfort as a catalyst for growth, I view challenges not as obstacles but as opportunities to stretch my abilities and redefine my role in the healthcare ecosystem, aligned with my passions.

Fortunately, shortly after graduation, I secured an internship at Lumira Ventures. Initially, I focused on marketing and communications – areas in which I had minimal experience, but they had a need. Surprisingly these roles ignited my interest in contributing to innovative healthcare solutions by leveraging my creativity and storytelling skills. Lumira has so many incredible patient and company development stories to tell and they were just sitting on the shelf. I realized that I could fulfill my passion for being impactful by unlocking those stories and helping the firm to tell them and share them with our investors, governments, and other stakeholders in the community. Despite working in a “financial business” I had found a platform to amplify my mission and I realized that capital when wielded with compassion, can break down healthcare barriers and provide greater care to people universally. I am constantly learning, growing, and feeling inspired by what is not just a workplace but a sanctuary where impactful healthcare solutions can find the support they need to flourish, just as I do.

I am fortunate that my job also allows me to continue my other passions. I am actively engaged with various mental health initiatives, a cause very close to my heart. Some of these include my non-profit clothing brand and community that donates 100% to CAMH, my mental health podcast, and being a board member on the CAMH young professionals board.

What Drives Me Today

What truly drives me is the belief in profit with a purpose. I find inspiration in the transformative power of aligning financial prowess with a compassionate heart, creating meaningful change. Working with visionary leaders who provide financial returns while advancing the cause of accessible, equitable healthcare ignites a spark within me. I love being Lumira’s storyteller and I am motivated by connecting innovative medical solutions with the art of impactful communication to demonstrate the profound potential of healthcare. It’s important to me to share the stories of life-changing science and mission-driven leaders and allow others to see the ability we hold to heal not only bodies but entire communities.
