Our Team Cares

At Lumira, we support those in our broader healthcare ecosystem as well as in our local communities. We recently initiated the “double bottom line challenge” to help those affected by the recent COVID-19 outbreak and continue to donate a portion of partner time and profits to support the research, translational medicine and healthcare access missions of over a dozen leading healthcare foundations.

Double Bottom Line Challenge

Lumira has committed $100,000 to support community initiatives helping those most impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.

Like virtually every other VC and PE firm in this country, the lack of many normal course business expenses during this pandemic has actually represented a meaningful cost saving for our firm. Recognizing this, we have chosen to “invest/spend” our savings on those truly in need in our communities and to focus for the most part on grass-roots, truly volunteer initiated and led programs with high impact.

We have been looking for “double bottom line” opportunities – like feeding those in need by having local restaurants prepare and deliver the meals as an example, and we have started with a commitment of $100,000. This has truly been a team effort as we have our people pitch once a week to decide on the organizations/people we should support.  This has become one of the highlights of our weekly process and to date we have supported the  following organizations to date.  Most importantly, we’ve gotten to know some incredible people selflessly doing some fantastic things for others, and if that doesn’t start your day right then nothing will.
